Go Phillies!

It was time for some father-son bonding!  Brian took one lucky Matty to the Phillies day game last week.  They had a great time--Matty wore Brian out exploring the whole park.  I hear they won the game, but I don't think the boys got to watch too much of it...

Pink Sweaters Unite!

Alfred the Pig

After visiting the farm, when we asked Matty what his favorite animal was, he responded, "Alfred the pig".  Alfred the pig is a decoration that Grandma has on her back patio--a pig on a tire swing.  Both Matty and Juliet loved it.  Matty named the pig Alfred.  I guess the cows, chickens, swans, kittens, and horse just couldn't compete with Alfred.

Tractor Time

A visit to Grandma's house wouldn't be complete without a trip to the dairy farm.  Matty got to check out the big tractor this time--very cool!

R2D2's for Miles

On the way to Grandma's house, we passed a number of farms.  Matty was very excited to look out the window and see R2D2!  Well, not really R2D2, but something shaped just like the Star Wars character-- a silo!  Everytime we would pass one, Matty would cry R2D2!  We kept telling him that while it was the same shape, it was called a silo, but he thought calling it an R2D2 was way more fun.  :-)

Matty had his first dentist appointment today.  He did a fantastic job and was super-still as he got his teeth cleaned and checked.  He came home with a very snazzy new toothbrush and two prizes that he picked out--plastic watches that he has been wearing all day.  Plus, no cavities--hooray!

Milestone Alert: Juliet is 15 Months!

***MILESTONE ALERT***
Juliet had her 15 Month Check Up yesterday and continues to grow and grow!  She aced the exam and is progressing really well for 15 months.  Here are her current stats:

Length:  29 3/4 inches (40th %tile)  -- wow!  I was convinced Juliet was a shortie, but maybe not!

Weight:  19 lbs (5th %tile) 

In the past 3 months, she has gained 1 3/4 inches and 1 lb!

She is on the small side for weight, but she has a great appetite and has started feeding herself--using her left hand.  A lot of food gets all over her, but she does manage to get food into her mouth (and hopefully her belly, too!)  She asks everyone and anyone to share their food with her--so watch out!

Juliet has also said her first sentence!  Her first sentence was "I sit."  Her second sentence was "I catch it."  Way to develop those language skills!

Hide and Seek

Matty, Juliet, and Daddy played a giggle-filled game of hide-and-seek after dinner last night.  All three of them would take a turn hiding.  Daddy was the only one who varied his hiding spot.  Matty loved his spot and went back turn after turn.  Juliet isn't one to be left out of the action, so when it was her turn, she was happy to hide in the elected spot...

Go for a Ride

We took Matty and Juliet to the boardwalk for some summertime rides and games.  Matty is always hilarious in this situation--he is excited to go on the rides, but generally turns into "Serious Matty" the moment he gets on the ride.  Brian and I will wave like crazy every time he comes around, but he just gives us a look and usually refuses to reciprocate. 

A smile!!!  We actually got a smile!!  But, I'm not sure if this counts because the ride hadn't started yet. 

Dinner at the Shore

Nothing but trouble--the cousins having dinner at the shore. 

A few hours earlier, the boys were playing on the front porch when the ice cream truck started playing it's siren song down the street.  (I've said before that I think both Matty and Juliet have a great aptitude for identifying "opportunity"/weakness in adults--I'm sure the same is true for all kids).  Sue and I were busy collecting the gear from the beach, so Matty led a charge to Uncle Tom and said, "Uncle Tom, can we get ice cream?"  He was about to say yes, when Uncle Chris discovered their scheme and put an end to it.  Maybe next time, boys :-)

We went to the local 4th of July parade and had a great time--despite the heat!  Phew, it was hot, but the kids had fun...

A Brief Respite

Matty and Zoe strolling hand in hand.  Ok, so realistically, it was really like hand in wrist.  We need to teach Matty how to be a better hand holder.  He was holding on to her wrist mostly, instead of her hand. :-)
