Halloween Costume Fail -- Matty

Orange furry monster??  Matty loves the color orange and Mommy found a bargain Old Navy monster costume that she thought Matty might like.  He did for about a day, but then decided that is not the costume for him.

Halloween Costume Fail -- Juliet

Usually, Mommy goes crazy and orders a half dozen costumes for Juliet, tries them all on, then selects the best one for Halloween festivities.  This year, (or really last year), Mommy found a bargain Halloween costume after Hurricane Sandy on sale for $3!  She couldn't pass it up and thought it would be perfect for Babes.  We were all set for the strawberry costume, until Juliet started telling everyone and anyone who would listen that she decided on a different costume choice (stay tuned for that one.)  Oh well--guess the strawberry wasn't meant to be.  (Unless she changes her mind again on Halloween--entirely possible.)

Halloween Costume Fail -- Matty

Mommy really tried not to go overboard with Halloween costumes this year.  But it is so hard to have the kids pick out a costume and stick with it while being constantly bombarded with Halloween displays and costume ideas. 

Here is the first up on our Halloween Costume fail 2013. 

About 2 months ago, while browsing a catalog, Matty decided he wanted to be a spider for Halloween.  Since he was a spider 3 years ago, we broke out the costume to try it on for size.  He changed his mind shortly afterwards.  Since we already had the costume (and it was already borrowed from the cousins anyway), no problem with this costume stop-over.

Juliet MILESTONE **2 1/2 Yr Check Up**

My goodness, the time flies by.  Our little baby is really a big girl now and just had her 2 1/2 year well visit.  She passed with flying colors!

Here are her current stats:

Height:  35 inches (25th%tile)

Weight:  26 1/2 lbs (25th%tile)

That is a gain of 2 lbs and 2 inches in 6 months!  She is growing right along the 25th %tile curve, which is great!  She loves to eat, which her doctor said you wouldn't be able to tell by looking at her.  However, if you ever witnessed her devour an entire bowl of mashed potatoes at a family dinner, you would know that she has quite a healthy appetite. 

In other big girl news, Juliet is potty trained (woot!), sleeps in a big girl bed, and loves to say "I do it myself!"

Sartorial Choices

Someone picked out their outfit and got dressed on their own today.  The other one had Mommy pick out the outfit.  Guess who? 

Matty was feeling like a rock star today--fake tattoo sleeves, black pants, sunglasses, and baseball hat. All topped off with a cool-dude attitude.  Hey, at least it matched, right?  Juliet was sporting pink pants (it should be noted that these are supposed to be capri pants, but work as full-length pants for our shortie) with a grey bow cardigan sweater, topped with a white bow. 

Four Tired Puppies

Everyone is tired after a long day of soccer, soccer pictures, cookie baking, and cookie taste-testing. 

Daisy has had enough of being used as a pillow--she's trying to get up now!

Spooky Cookies!

Decorating Halloween cookies!   A delicious way to spend a Saturday afternoon.  I believe Matty and Juliet put more sprinkles in their mouths than on the cookies.   

This is the first tray--not our finest work.  There is a half-moon, pumpkin, witch, ghost, haunted house, and a couple accidental blobs.

Preschool Picture Day

Preschool Picture Day!  That day that mommy gets to agonize over what to dress Matty & Juliet in, how to style their hair, and what shoes to wear.  Then, she realizes that the kids are potentially 100% overdressed.  Oh well! 

Matty insisted on wearing a tie with his outfit.  He felt that wearing a tie would make him easily identifiable in the class picture.  I'm fairly confident he was the only one wearing a tie today, so I guess his plan was solid.  That's ok--he looked great!

 Juliet wearing one of her pretty summer dresses--seeing as it's 85 degrees today, the weather made it work perfectly.  Mommy opted for pigtails and big bows.
